A lot of new Area 70s called!

President M Russell Ballard

71 years since a missionary in England.

Called to Q12 in 1985

We can find peace, joy and happiness despite the world’s troubles that swirl around us.

Do the very best you can day after day.

Satan desires to lead people into darkness.

Sin and transgression dim the light of Christ in our lives.

I worry that the spiritual purpose of these adjustments may be lost in the excitement of the changes themselves.

When we love and serve the Lord and love and serve our neighbours we will naturally feel more happiness.

Can you see that learning and teaching the gospel in our families is an important way of finding peace, joy and happiness in our lives?

Sabbath day observance should bring a smile on all of our faces.

Effective ministering is best viewed through the focused lens of loving God and loving our neighbours.

The most joy comes from the simple things in life.

It is in simplicity that you will find peace, joy and happiness.

President Nelson is carrying forward the Lord’s work at a breathtaking pace.

Story of joining the Church.

Spoke about the fruits of the Church.

Liked everything they saw but wanted to know everything before being baptised.

Learned that we can fully trust in a loving Heavenly Father.

Learned that in addition to our rational minds another dimension can give us knowledge and understanding.

(Compared 2 eyes with two ways of learning – mind and spirit)

Pilate and Jesus – What is truth?

We live with information and opinion overload.

Truth looks backwards and forwards.

Truth shows us the way to eternal life, and it is only through our Saviour, Jesus Christ. There is no other way.

There have always been counterfeits to distract God’s children from the truth.

God has given us a way to know and discern essential spiritual truths.

We can know the things of God as we seek them spiritually.

The Proclamation on the Family.

Some reject the voice of the prophets immediately.

One purpose of prophets is to help us in resolving sincere questions.

God’s standards are different from those of the world.

THe Saviour is the source of all truth that really matters.

Feasting upon the scriptures is not just reading them.

Feasting sometimes involves experimenting.

The words of Christ can increase our spiritual capacity to receive revelation.

When we struggle with our own identity…the scriptures will help us know who we really are.

We can lift the lives of others through the words of Christ.

The Lord invites us to open our mouths and share the gospel message.

Feasting upon the words of Christ can happen at any time and on any occasion.

(Excited to hear from Elder Homer – we worked with him at FSY)

At critical moments in our life we will hear multiple voices vying for our attention.

It is vital that we listen to the right one.

What is popular is not always what is best.

The wrong voices can draw us away from the gospel centre.

Our Heavenly Father makes it possible for us to hear his voice.

The Spirit speaks to different people in different ways.

We will find our Father’s voice in Conference this weekend.

When we hear it we need to follow the direction given.

Answers are sometimes slow to come.

We should be grateful for such times.

We need to decide which of all the voices we will obey.

The more diligently we seek His voice, the easier it will become to hear.

Baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist

John referred to Jesus as the Lamb of God.

History of sacrificing lambs.

Introduction of the sacrament.

We are to remember in as personal a way as possible that Christ died of a heart broken.

Sunday best has lost a little of its meaning in our time.

An occasional tardiness is understandable but if the ox is in the mire every Sunday we strongly suggest that you sell the ox or fill in the mire.

If there is chatter on the stand we should not be surprised if there is chatter in the congregation.

This hour ordained of the Lord is the most sacred hour of the week.
